Simple Shelter Meal Guidelines
April - September
Thank you for your willingness to provide a simple meal to our shelter guests.
LUM shelter guests are provided sandwiches after they are admitted to the shelter beginning at 9:00pm. We make a conscious effort to make sure the food we serve is nutritious, but basic. We're grateful for your generosity and ask that you adhere to the following guidelines... |
Guidelines: |
- Prepare enough sandwiches for 30-50 people.
(You will receive a reminder call/e-mail with number of guests)
- No desserts are needed.
- Drinks are optional (most guests drink water). If you bring a beverage, we ask that it not contain caffeine or sugar as the guests go to bed afterwards.
|
| You can help out in several ways... |
- Schedule a date with Shelter Director Joyce Fasani (423-2691) to bring a simple meal. Prepare the sandwiches at your leisure and bring to the shelter on your scheduled date between 8:00pm and 9:00pm.
- Make a monthly commitment if possible. Bring a simple meal on the same night each month.
- Groups interested in serving their simple meal should arrive at 8:30pm and plan to stay until 10:30pm. Please let Joyce know in advance if you will be staying to serve.
- Remember to label your dishes. Please return to pick them up as soon as possible; we'd hate for it to get lost. You may transfer your sandwiches to LUM's dishes to avoid an extra trip.
